June 12, 2017 marked another exciting customer bonding event between MTN and the citizens of Kano, as the Chief Operating Officer (COO), Muhammad Siddiqui led top management of the company to break the Ramadan fast with some of its esteemed customers in Kano.

In living up to its renewed commitment to make customer satisfaction the hub of its operations, MTN Nigeria officials listened and shared with a section of the city’s muslim community in a gesture that demonstrated how much MTN values the opinions of its diverse customer base.

Comfortably seated in the FABs Centre and Events, under the hall décor in MTNN’s signature warm Y’ello colours, guests engaged with top management executives, asked questions and shared observations about products and services while breaking the day’s Ramadan fast.

Speaking on this initiative, MTN Nigeria, COO, Muhammad Siddiqui, said, “At special times like this, MTN understands the need to show appreciation to our dear customers and enhance the emotional connection we share with them. For our dear customers of the Islamic faith, this holy month of Ramadan provides us that unique opportunity to do so”.

The Ramadan Iftaar event is one of several ‘Voice of the Customer’ initiatives that kicked off this year, with forums in the cities of Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja. Each session has been marked by vibrant dialogue covering a wide range of topics, e.g. discussion on the state of the industry, feedback on MTN products and services, suggestions on service improvements, etc.

According to Muhammad Siddiqui, “This approach is in line with our stakeholder management strategy to proactively and effectively engage our customers, with a view to understanding how we can serve them better and ultimately fulfil our mission - to make our customers lives a whole lot brighter!”

Dignitaries from all works of life graced the event and praised the company for her efforts in improving the lifestyle of its customers in the State.

Update: Man who killed his brother over glass of water gets 3-year probation sentence

Last week, LIB reported on the story of Kenyan man in Nairobi County who killed his own brother over a glass of water while they were having dinner at the deceased home. Read here.

On Wednesday, the accused  Collins Obenda Gavalwa appeared at a Court in Nairobi and was handed a three-year probation term.
During the period of his 3-year probation, he's required to be of good character and shun crime.

Justice Jessie Lessit, who accepted Obenda’s probation report, warned him of dire consequences should he engage in crime before the lapse of three years.
“If you commit any criminal offence during this period, this court will hand down to you double portion of punishment as you will first be condemned to serve sentence for this offence and then you be condemned to serve for the latter,” Justice Lessit said in her ruling.
She further directed the accused to undergo counseling during that period and urged Obenda to adhere to all the orders given to him by his supervisors.
“You will be required to obey all the instructions and shun bad company,” Justice Lessit told the convict.
Obenda pleaded guilty to a lesser offence of manslaughter that on June 8 he killed his brother.

"Nothing can compete with the friendship we shared"- Charly Boy pays glowing tribute to his dad, Justice Oputa

To celebrate father's day which is on Sunday, Charly Boy wrote this beautiful piece to appreciate his father, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa who died on May 11th 2014. He wrote:
"My dearest friend, It's been 3yrs since you left, and 7months since I had the last seance when we talked. Nothing can compete with the friendship we shared and the bounding that grew so strong, before your exit. I will forever remain grateful for your regimented training, the value and principles you shoved down my throat. Even your love for Mum had a great impart on me. You reawakened in me a deeper meaning to life, the realisation of my purpose on earth. Most importantly, I learnt the value of contentment and humility from you my Guru. Not a lot of us are blessed with parents who make strong impact in our lives and shape our mindset. For this I am grateful to God. I feel blessed. Oh yes!!!! Sometimes noble fathers have noble children because rarely does an apple fall too far from its tree. Thank you Dad. Happy Fathers Day".
